Marker World feedback

I have been receiving mostly positive feedback from Marker World in the four days it has been out - thanks to everyone who provided comments, criticism, and new ideas.  The top requests so far have been more levels (of course!) and a level editor.  The concept demo seems to be getting the most attention through gamedev.net and fun-motion.com so I try and check the threads over there more often than other sites.  However if there are any other comments/questions/ideas you would like me to see, the Comments section of this blog would be the best place to put it.

I’m actually rather new to this whole blogging thing as you probably can tell so I’m interested in hearing anything you have to say about Marker World.  If you simply like it and would like to see a more complete version of the game in the future (this was just a concept demo after all), please let me know!  Oh and if you know of any music that would fit the game (avoiding copyright issues), definitely let me know…

I have a idea how to improve the game:
You could add constraints. Like pins or ropes.

    @Robber
Yes, this is a suggestion that comes up pretty often :)

  3. CG Says:

Can you make it so that the user can move the screen without moving the ball? In the demo I found that I really didn’t have enough room to set up anything interesting, just very simplistic solutions.

Love LOVE this game, referred it to so many people.

More levels of course! Keep the levels fun and enjoyable.

There is a site called www.newgrounds.com

In the big bar near the top you see “Audio Portal”. Best place ever for music.

    Oh! so cool game!

    Man, you are good.

    Here is a suggestion:
Maybe you could add a “create a level” or something like that?
where users could create maps, and share it.

Yay, really cool game! Found it on gamedev by a link in a german opengl forum. Really nice!
I’d like to see a more complete version - or a world editor ;)

The first thing I noticed was the stability and the low CPU usage compared to “Crayon Physics”

Crayon physics lags and behave weird when there are a couple of lines.

And its much better than Crayon Physics because the drawings never transform into boxes like Crayon Physics.

The only thing left in making the game is the levels. I recommend you to make a website where people can post their creations or an in-game online level editor.

Some Creative Commons music can be found at http://ccmixter.org/.

  9. Pascal Says:

To run it on a Tablet PC, it would be great to make the ball-moving keys reassignable. Then, I could assign them to my PgUp/Pg Down keys next to the screen and play it without keyboard…

  10. Fero Says:

Pascal, Actually I guess you could do that yourself. there must be some “change-mapping” utilities for TabletPCs, don’t tell me there aren’t any!
